A question. These MIMO boxes seem to address weak reception for 3G/4G/ LTE cellular base station links. What’s not clear (to me) is whether 1) these boxes “boost” the cellular link itself, reradiating the cellular link for higher local SNR in and about a disadvantaged home location so that a mobile phone can now have more reliable cellular phone calls, i.e. more bars, or else that 2) these boxes only create a Wi-Fi hotspot (much as your mobile can) of their own which can be inter-networked with standard routers (which seems to be the compatibility issue most discussed in this article). I have reliable high rate cable (400Mbps peak download, 12Mbps upload). So my Internet Wi-Fi connectivity (from the cable box) is fine anywhere in the house. But, alas, both Verizon and ATT cellular link connections are dicey because of our location in a hilly/ridge-y area well away from the nearest base station. Will these boxes address/improve my mobile phone voice call reliability? That’s what I’m after – and no doubt many others.
